THE ENRICO MARINELLI CONTEMPORARY ART AWARD

February - October 2018

MUSEO DELL'OPERA DEL DUOMO, FLORENCE

The Enrico Marinelli Award was founded to commemorate Enrico Marinelli, founder of the Guild of the Dome Association, Florence. The Award winner will be given the opportunity to create for the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo di Firenze an original sculpture produced in Tuscany with the help of the local artisans. The Coordinator in Chief of the award is Adelina von Fürstenberg. The jury, composed by art experts and directors of important art institutions, convened in Florence in the past weeks. They reviewed 45 dossiers of artists from the five continents suggested by 10 renowned art critics and contemporary art curators. From the pool of 45, five finalists have been selected: Francesco Arena, Marco Bagnoli, Sakshi Gupta, Mikayel Ohanjayan and Barthélémy Toguo. By the first week of June, the selected artists will submit to the jury a 3D rendering of their project proposal. One on the five artists will be chosen and invited for a summer residency in Tuscany to realize the sculpture, to be inaugurated in October 2018 at the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo of Florence and exhibited for six months.
